One-winged angels
2018 I finished my series "the seven deadly sins" which I had been working on the previous 10 years in Guatemala and Belize, exhibited at Artexpo New York 2017.
In September 2018 all my activities had been stopped: I had a stroke.
One year recovery far from home ...
In autumn 2019 when feeling better I followed the invitation of a transsexual friend who had imigrated to Morroco. In the village Sidi Ifni, Westsahara I restarted painting.
One-winged, handicapped, vulnerable, recovering angels. The series continued in Panama 2020 and Mexico 2020 and 2021...... I learned how to work with gold leaf, trying a new technique.
How could I know 2019 that so many of us would find themselves with a cut-off wing because of a changing world situation somewhat later? The pandemic distroyed and is destroying careers, businesses, friendships and families. Wings have been cut off without warning.
The one-winged -angels-thought-behind is picking up the qualities of the "mysterious creatures fighting the seven deadly sins". Patience. Tenderness. Generosity. Wisdom.... And more.
Stay tuned.
